321 STAINLESS STEEL ROUND BARS (321 SS ROUND BARS)
321 stainless steel bar, or else also known as UNS S32100 and Grade 321, is principally involved 17% to 19% chromium, 12% nickel, .25% to 1% silicon, 2% greatest manganese, clues of phosphorus and sulfur .70% titanium, with the equality being iron. Alloy 321 (UNS S32100) is stabilized stainless steel round bar which offers as its main benefit an excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range from the 800 to 1500°F. Alloy 321 stainless steel round bar is stabilized against chromium carbide formation by the addition of the titanium.
321 Alloy stainless steel square bar is also advantageous for high temperature service because of its great mechanical properties. 321 Alloy round bars of SS offers higher creep and stress rupture properties than Alloy 304 and, particularly, Alloy 304L, which also might be considered for the exposures where sensitization and intergranular corrosion are concerns.
General Properties
321 Alloy (UNS S32100) is titanium stabilized austenitic stainless steel round bar with a great general corrosion resistance. It has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to temperatures in chromium carbide precipitation range of 800 to 1500°F (427 - 816°C). The alloy resists oxidation to 1500°F (816°C) and has higher creep and stress rupture properties than alloys 304L and 304L. It also possesses good low temperature hardness.
Alloy 321H (also known as UNS S 32109) stainless steel flat bar is the higher carbon (0.04 - 0.10) version of the alloy. It was developed for enhanced creep resistance and for higher hardness at temperatures above 1000oF (537°C). In most instances, The content of carbon of the plate enables dual certification.
321 Alloy stainless steel round bar cannot be toughend by heat process, only by cold working. It can be easily melded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices.
